Terms of Service
FreeholdIP is operated by RaptorLockIP™ ("RaptorLockIP," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the FreeholdIP website and services (the "Service"). By creating an identity, paying for the Service, or otherwise using it, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What FreeholdIP is
FreeholdIP lets you create a self-owned digital identity that is recorded on the Raptoreum blockchain under a key that you alone control. Verified issuers can sign credentials to your identity, and anyone can verify those credentials independently. The Service is non-custodial: you generate and hold your own keys, password, and recovery phrase. We never see, hold, or have the ability to recover them.
2. Your identity, keys, and responsibility
- You are solely responsible for safeguarding your password, your 12-word recovery phrase, your keystore file, and any device on which they are stored.
- If you lose both your password and your recovery phrase, access to your identity cannot be recovered by you or by us. This loss is permanent and irreversible.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you choose to publish in your profile, and for your use of the Service.
- You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into these Terms.
3. How the blockchain and decentralized storage work
a. Permanence and irreversibility
Creating an identity submits a transaction to the Raptoreum blockchain and stores content on IPFS. You acknowledge that such a transaction, once made, is permanent and cannot be edited, deleted, or reversed, and that you assume all risks associated with this permanence.
b. Public visibility
Your identity name, public address, the profile you choose to publish, and any credentials you choose to display are publicly visible by design. Do not publish anything you wish to keep private.
c. No control over decentralized networks
The Raptoreum blockchain and IPFS are public, decentralized networks that we do not own or control. We cannot remove, alter, or guarantee the continued availability of data once it is on those networks.
4. Payments and fees
- Creating an identity requires a one-time fee, shown to you at checkout (introductory price $5.00 USD; prices may change at any time and the price shown at checkout applies to that purchase).
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details.
- After payment, we sponsor (pay the network fee for and broadcast) the blockchain transaction that creates your identity. The resulting identity is owned by your key, not ours.
- Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy. In short: all sales are final once your identity is created, and you are refunded in full if we are unable to create it.
5. Issuers and credentials
FreeholdIP reviews and approves the issuers listed in our directory, but the cryptographic trust in a credential comes from the issuer's own signing key and their control of their own domain — not from any endorsement by us. We are not a party to, and do not guarantee, any credential, license, or claim issued by an issuer. Issuers are solely responsible for the credentials they issue, including their accuracy, renewal, and revocation. Verification results are provided for your information and are not legal or professional advice.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the Service unlawfully; impersonate any person or organization; create identities or content that are fraudulent, deceptive, infringing, or harmful; attempt to disrupt, attack, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure; or use the Service to misrepresent your identity or credentials.
7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service, the Raptoreum blockchain, IPFS, Bitcoin timestamping, or any third-party service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or permanently available.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, RaptorLockIP and its owners, operators, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of access, data, assets, funds, profits, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim. Your use of the Service is at your sole risk.
8. Changes, governing law, and contact
We may update these Terms from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the current version, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Texas for any dispute that is not otherwise resolved.
